Hello Sugar,
It's been quite a year! All that aside, our new news is that we've just moved out of our space at 8024 W. 3rd Street, and, due to circumstances beyond our control, find ourselves, temporarily without a brick-and-mortar location. After the initial panic subsided we embraced this as the opportunity is is, and are taking a hiatus to enhance our web store.
Our brick-and-mortar boutique will re-open at years end. In the meantime, we hope you will shop our web store as we scour the world to bring you unique, amazingly crafted, beautiful lingerie finds.
Muah!

There's Something About....
Hello Sugar,
I was traveling recently, and while in my hotel room, found myself dancing in my skivvies to a favorite tune while getting dressed for a meeting. This simple act delighted me immensely -- as though I were a "kid in a candy store"; a la Cameron Diaz in, "There's Something About Mary...".
Yes ladies, you ask why you should own beautiful lingerie -- even when you're single.... Because you are worth EACH AND EVERY PENNY and square yard of silk, lace, modal and cotton that comes with it! AND because you just might find yourself dancing, partially nude, in the mirror with a hair brush and your favorite tune on the iPod!
Rock on, Sisters!

Napoleon Bonaparte to Josephine De Beauharnais

I wake filled with thoughts of you. Your portrait and the intoxicating evening which we spent yesterday have left my senses in turmoil.
Sweet incomparable Josephine, what a strange effect you have on my heart!
Are you angry?
Do I see you looking sad? Are you worried...?
My soul aches with sorrow, and there can be no rest for your lover; but is there still more in store for me when, yielding to the profound feelings which overwhelm me, I draw from your lips, from your heart a love which consumes me with fire? Ah! It was last night that I fully realized how false an image of you your portrait gives!
You are leaving at noon; I shall see you in three hours.
Until then, mio dolce amor, a thousand kisses; but give me none in return, for they set my blood on fire.
Bonaparte

Welcome 2010
Happy New Year Sugar,
As we jump into 2010 I am reminded of all the things I am thankful for.... Though 2009 was a rough year, a lot of wonderful things happened and I met so many fabulous people as I began the journey leading to Sugar Lilie, dessous prives.
I am so very excited about what 2010 offers; new beautiful people, places, textiles, and the pieces they've created that I get to bring home to YOU!
This year, I'll also introduce you to the lovely ladies who create the items you're wearing. I think you'll get a kick out of meeting them, seeing where they create and what drives them....
In creating this scenario, I am inspired by Coco Chanel, who once said, "when women learn to dress for themselves and not their men they will be beautiful"!
My addition, "and their men will reap the benefits"!

Brilliance....
Hello Sugar....
You've got to give credit to a brilliant woman! I doubt she knew her invention grow into the beautiful range of colors, styles and fits available today.
Caresse Crosby (1892-1970), poet and widow of poet Harry Crosby, had been, with her husband, one of the lights of Paris during the 1920s. Deeply immersed in Paris's literary and art scene and social circuit, the two established Black Sun Press, one of the fine small publishers of its time, noted for the artistry of its productions. She remained in Paris after his suicide in 1929 but returned to New York during the 1930s, remarried and divorced. Her memoir, The Passionate Years (1953), remains one of the best views of American ex-pats in Paris during the 1920s.
On November 3, 1914, the U.S. Patent Office issued a patent to Caresse Crosby under her maiden name, Mary P. Jacob, for the 'Backless Brassiere', the first modern bra design.
Whalebone futures presumably nosedived.
Way to go Caresse!

Gift Wrap....
Hello Sugar,
'Tis the Season to wrap yourself in something soft and soft and sensuous. So, while you're out "making a list, and checking it twice," be sure YOUR name is on there, and pick up some beautiful lingerie to slip into once your day is done. While you're at it, pick up a set to set the tone for the next day.
Hmmmm, what kind of woman are you? Silk, cotton, jersey, blend? Depends on the day and your mood, right...? Thong, biknin, shorty, knickers? Oh, a high-cut brief. A full-cup, demi, balconette, or bralette? A beautiful teddy, camisol, chemise, a baby-doll? Or maybe even a fabulous corset? Perhaps a set of comfy PJ's?
Whatever you choose, YOU ARE A PRESENT WORTH WRAPPING!

Luxury or ...?
Hello Sugar,
I've noticed advertisements touting lingerie as a "luxury," item -- suggesting, "splurge, you're worth it". My question is, "who writes this stuff? When did an every day item of clothing in made in a quality fabric, offering amazing support become a "luxury"? And, WOW, we need someone to tell us "it's okay" to "go out and buy yourself something nice".... Why don't they add, "Little Lady, and a patt on the butt to the end of the sentence.... Gee, REALLY?
I say, invest in pieces that are made well, fit you like a glove, enhance your wardrobe, and make you feel like the GODDESS YOU ARE! Is it a luxury? NO, it's just good sense! Lingerie, like any other item of clothing, can be tailored to fit you like a glove. Correction, "good lingerie" can be tailored. This also extends the life of your item - thereby increasing its wearability and overall in your wardrobe. Catch my drift....
And Lovelies, PLEASE wear your lingerie. Don't save it for a "special occasion". THAT's when it becomes a luxury.
You are Divine ~

Snuggle Up....
Hello Sugar,
As the mercury drops this evening it's the perfect time to to feel warm and fuzzy.
Take a moment to slow it down, put something on that hugs your curves -- sip a warm drink, add some music, your favorite snack(s), fall into your favorite part of the sofa or chair, and snuggle up to someone (or something) even warmer. Ahhhh....
Enjoy your evening...

Tie me Up...!

Have you ever been "Corseted"? I'm not talking about one of those cute little numbers you find at department stores, but ACTUAL "CORSETS" like the ones worn from the 16th Century through the Victorian Age! With steel boning, custom fitted to your body! THE REAL DEAL!! It's THE most amazing feeling EVER!!!! A complete transformation! The best thing is watching a skeptic go from, "oh I'm not a corset person," to coaxing them into just trying one on; to, "holy crap, I'm SMOKIN HOT," in a matter of minutes.
No matter your size, from petit to the voluptuous, have someone "tie you up, and feel your VA-VA-VOOM go through the roof!!!!

Lingerie or a Six-pack?
This is a question many women ask themselves when setting out to purchase undergarments.... "Do I invest in lingerie, or do I run over to the local Super Store and pick up a "six-pack" of underwear?"
Sadly Ladies, too many of us are opting for the latter as evidenced by the ill fitting bras, panties (VPL's), and "ho-hum" attitudes we see around town.
You would not dare step out to an event without that great black dress and killer Jimmy Choos, why not start with the foundation.
Lingerie is a personal investment that will last, where the quick bag of undies will only serve the purpose for the moment.
As the saying goes, " You get what you pay for," and Comfort, Fit and Feeling Good has no price tag.
